What You'll Do
Epic is looking for a veteran Lead Artist to join the Rocket League team, focusing on vehicle art with real-world manufacturer partnerships and original IP. They should be experienced with robust global content pipelines at scale. In this role, they'll bridge the gap between world-class visual quality and the rigorous technical requirements of a live-service environment. Partnering with the vehicle art director you'll help drive the production pipeline, ensuring that every asset balances brand accuracy with game-ready performance. You'll work with the teams translating complex technical needs into clear, documented processes that allow our internal artists and outsourcing partners to deliver quality within strict budgets and bug quotas.
In this role, you will
• Define and document the end-to-end workflow for vehicle production, ensuring seamless integration between internal stakeholders and external vendors
• Integrate with real-world vehicle manufacturers to ensure digital representations meet licensing and branding requirements without sacrificing game performance
• Work with our global team and network of external partners, providing high-level direction, detailed feedback, and quality control at a massive volume
• Navigate the trade-offs between visual fidelity, production budgets, and technical constraints to deliver on time and quality
• Create and maintain ''source of truth'' documentation that empowers artists to work autonomously while maintaining a unified visual language
What we're looking for
• 15+ Years of Experience and a proven track record in high-end vehicle, cosmetic assets, or hard-surface pipelines for AAA titles or long-running live services
• Experience running large-scale external pipelines, including vendor selection, asset briefing, and the management of high-volume delivery schedules
• A strong working knowledge of Shotgrid, confluence, Jira, and other product management tools
• Demonstrated experience working with real-world brands to bring licensed assets to life under rigorous scrutiny
• An expert understanding of PBR workflows, CAD-to-Game-Engine pipelines, and the optimization required for cross-platform play
• The ability to distill complex technical requirements into plain-language briefs that can be understood by artists across different cultures and time zones and experience in Unreal Engine is a plus
• Must have a low-ego and thrive on helping others s/ucceed, whether they are sitting at the desk next to you or working at a partner studio halfway across the world
