Job Description
KTSM TV IS seeking a creative, fast-moving Content Creator who is passionate about local news and energized by local-first storytelling. This role focuses on producing short-form stories, assist in the live production of our news broadcasts and digital platforms.• Create short-form video optimized for KTSM's social platforms and digital audiences.
• Shoot and edit original stories
• Pitch and develop daily digital story ideas rooted in local news and community impact.
• Collaborate with producers/managers to integrate content
• Stay current on emerging platforms, tools, and best practices for digital storytelling.
• Operates studio cameras during live broadcasts
• Confers with directors and producers for newscast execution
• Sets up cameras and related equipment
• Produces graphics for newscast
• Edit video content for newscasts
• Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements & Skills:
• Passion for local news and serving the El Paso community.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Experience creating digital video content.
• Strong shooting and editing skills; comfortable with mobile workflows and lightweight gear.
• Ability to write engaging captions and headlines tailored for digital audiences.
• Sound editorial judgment; familiarity with journalism ethics and copyright best practices.
• Organized and adaptable; able to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, breaking-news environment.
• Bachelor's degree in journalism, Communications, Digital Media, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Schedule flexibility for early mornings, nights, weekends, and breaking news as needed
