Job Description
Sr. Manager, Business & Legal Affairs (1 Year Maternity Cover)
( This is a fixed-term position to cover maternity leave and ensure continuity of legal support during the leave period. )
As a Senior Manager, Business & Legal Affai rs , you will be mainly responsible for reviewing contracts relating to the business operations . You will also provide basic legal opinions to enable management to make appropriate decisions in compliance with contractual and legal obligations in Korea.
What you'll do:
Basic L egal S upport F or B usiness O perations
• Reviewing contracts relating to the business operations, including distribution deals, catalogue acquisition deals, artist contracts, investment-related deals, live events, marketing activities and service agreements.
• P rovid ing legal support and analysis to support management's decision-making. (Relevant Laws: Copyright Act, Anti-Competition Act, Civil Act, Commercial Code, Privacy Act, L a bor Act, Framework Act on Artificial Intelligence, Fair trade–related laws, including the Electronic Commerce Act ).
• Supporting e ffective communication between the headquarters and Korea office to ensure compliance with S ony Music Entertainment ' s policies.
Support F or R esolving B usiness R elated D isputes
• Supporting internal discussions on disputer solution strategies.
• Supporting management discussions by summarizing legal considerations.
• Providing support to external counsel during litigation proceedings.
Collaboration W ith R elevant O rganizations O n L aws and P olicies
• Keeping informed of legislative or policy changes that may affect the industr y.
• Supporting communications with industry associations, as needed.
Who you are:
Technical C apabilities:
[Requirements]
• Qualified as a lawyer in Korea or in the US (markets can differ) OR a bachelor ' s degree in law in Korea and min. 3 ~5 + years of legal experience in the entertainment industry.
• Fluent in Korean and English. Excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written .
• Ability to work independently, but also fully communicate with the supervisor, and other internal/external stakeholders.
[Preferred Qualifications]
• 5 ~7 + years of legal -related experience (in-house experience preferred) in the entertainment industry , especially focused on music.
• On site experience in a music business -related department and experience collaborating with music industry organizations.
