Job Title:
Photogrammetry Lead - Treyarch (Los Angeles)

Requisition ID:
R027459

Job Description:

Treyarch is looking for a dedicated and passionate Photogrammetry Lead to own and evolve a high-performance scanning pipeline supporting AAA first-person shooter development. This role will focus on translating real-world data into optimized, gameplay-ready assets that support fast-paced production and sets industry standards for visual quality in competitive and cinematic FPS environments.

You will lead a specialized team responsible for capturing, processing, and integrating photogrammetry assets into well optimized game environments where readability, performance, and iteration speed are critical. You will also collaborate closely with our partner studios and vendors to evolve and maintain our pipeline across the Call of Duty franchise while keeping a keen eye on cost and efficiency.

This role will be based in our Playa Vista, CA office and follows an onsite work schedule of four days per week. Work arrangements may change at the company's discretion to meet business needs.

Why This Role Matters

In a fast-paced FPS production environment, photogrammetry is not just about realism, it is about creating grounded, believable spaces that support clear gameplay, fast iteration, and consistent visual identity under strict performance constraints.

This role will directly shape how real-world environments become playable spaces at scale, for one of the largest franchises in gaming.

What you'll do…

Pipeline Ownership & Optimization:
• Own the studio photogrammetry pipeline from capture through engine integration
• Work hand in hand with our Environment, Character, Vehicle, and Weapons teams to successfully integrate PG content into our games
• Manage and contribute to building our asset library of PG content
• Build and maintain workflows optimized for fast iteration and high-throughput asset production
• Ensure all scanned assets meet strict performance, streaming, and gameplay readability budgets
• Collaborate with Technical Art to automate reconstruction, cleanup, and optimization steps
• Maintain compatibility with proprietary production pipelines and studio tooling standards.

Team Leadership:
• Lead a team of photogrammetry artists and capture technicians
• Set standards for asset fidelity, compression, and gameplay usability
• Prioritize scanning tasks based on multiplayer, zombies, campaign, and global content
• Provide feedback on asset readiness for gameplay spaces (visibility, silhouette clarity, material contrast)
• Build and maintain clear documentation for repeatable, scalable capture workflows

Field Capture & Production Scanning:
• Direct on-location scanning for environments, props, modular kits, hero assets. Characters, weapons, and vehicles
• Manage HDRI capture, color consistency, and lighting calibration for engine parity
• Troubleshoot real-world constraints (tight schedules, restricted access environments, mixed lighting conditions)
• Ensure datasets are clean, structured, and immediately usable in downstream pipelines

To succeed you should have…

Minimum Experience:
• 8+ years of experience working as an artist in game development or real-time production.
• 2+ years of experience in leadership roles overseeing photogrammetry or scanning pipelines
• Experience shipping AAA titles with real-time scanned or hybrid environment workflows

Technical Skills:
• Strong expertise in photogrammetry tools (RealityCapture, Metashape, or equivalent)
• Proficiency in DCC tools (Maya, Blender, Substance 3D Suite, ZBrush)
• Strong, professional game-engine experience (asset integration, optimization, and streaming systems)
• Deep understanding of real-time optimization, including with LOD system, Texture compression, Material simplification, and Memory and performance budgets
• Strong grasp of PBR workflows with emphasis on gameplay readability over photorealism purity

Capture Expertise:
• DSLR/mirrorless capture workflows with strong understanding of exposure, lighting, lensing, and calibration
• HDRI capture and color pipeline management
• Experience scanning both organic environments, props, characters, and hard-surface modular assets like weapons and vehicles.
• Ability to design capture setups that prioritize speed and repeatability over cinematic perfection

Leadership & Production Fit:
• Experience working in fast-paced, milestone-driven AAA production environments
• Strong collaboration skills with production, gameplay, and level design teams
• Comfortable balancing visual fidelity against strict performance constraints
• Familiar with production tracking tools (Jira, ShotGrid, Perforce)

We'd love it if you also have...
• Experience with multiplayer FPS or competitive shooter development pipelines
• Familiarity with modular environment construction systems
• Experience integrating photogrammetry into procedural or kit-based workflows
• Python or tooling experience for automation inside DCC or engine pipelines
